I'm a person who is invested into the process of creating. The small details that make the piece final. In many ways the process is more fulfilling than the end product.
In the case of painting the process is special from the stapling and stretching of the canvas, the preparation of the raw cloth to accept paint, then drawing the image and integrating the layers of colors.
I get pleasure from the mixing of paint which is so much like cooking. Taking different colors, mixing them together resulting in a new color to use. The juxtaposition of colors next to each other bringing combinations and accidental meetings in the small details on the canvas.
This short video created with iPhone photos allows me to share my process. Although very short the whole process to create one painting can take many hours. Towards the end of this video you might notice a big change in the final image. That change was dealing with a part of the painting that was bothering me from the outset.
